What
a way to treat our mother!
But Mother Earth is a feisty ol' gal and won't stand for being mistreated. The storms and other so-called "disasters" (from our way of looking at things) of late indicate that she's had enough and won't take it any more. Is it any wonder that she's belching, wheezing, and shaking? Perhaps even viruses and other diseases are Mother's way of randomly ridding herself of our kind.
How much longer are we going to continue to poison and pollute our Mother and expect her to benignly take it? Over the past hundred years, we've managed to screw things up like spoiled rotten bastards instead of loving sons and daughters. We blithely go on our way, cutting down her tree garments, poisoning her waterway bloodstream, shitting and pissing our diapers and expecting that she'll keep treating us like the babies we appear to be. Blaming this on "natural cycles" or even on some kind of vindictive god is just more childish tantrums, something we've become quite good at.
We're concerned about what terrorists might do, what with their blowing up buildings, train and subway bombings, and suicide missions. But all their destructive efforts pale into complete insignificance before what our Mother is even now in the process of doing.
Mother Earth will continue trying to heal herself using every means possible, including the random destruction of human beings who have acted like a virus in her body. The effort will produce results more devastating to us than all the terrorists in the world put together could ever even imagine. We're all considered part of the infection and no one is exempt. Isn't it time for us to grow up and act more responsibly?
Perhaps these initial warnings will finally generate enough concern among us that we will find Earth-friendly alternatives to fossil fuel and other pollutants, sources of energy that ease our Mother's suffering and pain. And perhaps, also, along that path we'll find that living cooperatively with mutual support, and understanding, and acceptance of our delightful differences makes our Mother happy, too.
Urge manufacturers to creatively engineer Earth-friendly engines for such things as automobiles and to research alternative energy sources to fuel their facilities. Vote for people who support your Mother. Ask your governmental representatives to support international efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support environmentalists and others interested in preserving our species and others, buy products that nurture the Earth, recycle.
It's time to act like responsible sons and daughters.
In the long run, Mother Earth doesn't really need our help. She'll do what needs to be done, with or without it. However, if we're not careful, there may not be any of us around when it's all said and done.
