Links to Web-based Spiritual Resources

DISCLAIMER
Lotus and Rose lists the links below simply  as resources to assist investigation of various spiritual paths.
No claim is made for their validity as spiritual guides or the accuracy of their content.

When you look outside yourself for spiritual help...

BEWARE!

The naive believes everything,
But the prudent man considers his steps.
Proverbs 14:15

Because Lotus and Rose has an open and accepting stance, it may seem as though we are promoting every religious outlook as good and useful. However, not all that passes itself off as "truth" or "spiritual" or "holy" or whatever is good for you. Some religious viewpoints are poisonous, hateful, or worse. SO BE CAUTIOUS, my friend.

If you are considering finding spiritual help from any external source -- book, magazine, Web site (including this one), church, mosque, ashram, synagogue, temple, cathedral, guru, priest, priestess, roshi, rabbi, minister, or imam -- be aware that while there are many helpful resources, there are many hurtful ones, as well. So, I repeat -- be cautious, my friend. Keep your brain fully engaged as you look around.

If you have already been wounded in your spiritual path, you are not the first. Most of the truly great souls were wounded, too.

  • Ministry Watch -- Some Christian religious organizations are not open and above board when it comes to their financial dealings, particularly if they are independent of oversight. Investigative results into those organizations that have sound practices and those that are questionable or downright untrustworthy are noted on this site.

  • Ross Institute for the Study of Destructive Cults, Controversial Groups and Cult Movements -- Words to the wise!

  • Battered Sheep Ministry -- Offers encouragement to folks who are wounded victims of abuse at the hands of authoritarian, legalistic churches.

  • Voice of the Faithful -- Catholics who love their church but are concerned about abuse within their church.

  • Stop Baptist Predators -- An effort to expose and prevent abuse by clergy in churches, such as Baptist groups, that have no oversight beyond the local congregation.

  • Guru Ratings -- Opinions concerned primarily with Eastern and New Age spiritual guides.

  • Spiritual Abuse in the Church -- Jesus himself urged his followers to be wary of wolves.

  • Theocracy Watch -- One of the surest ways to destroy the spirituality of any religion is to put it in charge of governing a nation, regardless of the religion. Sad to say, but when governments are controlled by religious zealots of any kind, people of all kinds suffer. This particular Web site monitors the so-called "dominion movement"  which has gained a following among some Christians. The dangers involved apply equally, however, to any religion attempting to create a theocracy.

  • Americans United for the Separation of Church and State -- Points out the dangers of governmental involvement in either promoting or restricting religion.

  • Jews On First -- A Jewish perspective on the Christian fundamentalists' abuse of the first amendment and political power in general. Not all "friends of Israel" are really that friendly.

  • Challenging Christian Zionism -- Hey, in case you weren't aware, there's more than one way of interpreting the Bible -- or any other holy book, for that matter. A good thing to keep in mind on just about any theological topic.

All things that appear in this world are transient.
If you view all things that appear as never having appeared,
then you will realize your true self.
